Make a difference to the future of Scottish archaeology.

The current chair of Scotland’s Strategic Archaeology Committee (SSAC) is due to step down in December 2025.  The SSAC is seeking a new chair to lead the committee as it launches Scotland’s next Archaeology Strategy in the Spring of 2026.

Please refer to the Chair profile and role description for more information.

If you are interested, please send a one-page letter on why you are suitable, with a short CV

together with a brief answer to each of the following questions:

• What experience do you bring to the Committee and how will you feed your knowledge/ experience into the work that SSAC does?
• How will the Strategy help with your experiences and networks?
• Do you consider yourself to be part of an under-represented group?

The Committee meetings are quarterly and hybrid – we are keen to adopt a flexible and inclusive approach to encourage more diversity in the committee.

Interviews for the new Chair are expected to take place on 12 November, and the appointee to be agreed by the SSAC on 13 November. We look forward to hearing from you.
